These instructions assume you are logged on as "Administrator"
and have access to your operating system CD. Please follow the instructions
for your operating system, below.
Windows XP
- Click on the Start button.
- Click on All Programs, located at the bottom the the Start menu.
- Choose Accessories.
- Choose Communications.
- Choose Network Connections.
- You will now see a window labeled "Network Connections".
- Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties
from the menu that appears.
- If the box next to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is empty, click once
in it so that a check mark appears.
- Click once on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it, then click
on Properties.
- In the top portion of the window, ensure that Obtain an IP address automatically
is selected.
- In the bottom portion of the window, ensure that Obtain DNS server address
automatically is selected.
- Click on OK to close the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties"
window.
- Click on Close to close the "Local Area Connection Properties"
window.
- Restart your computer.
Windows 2000
- Click on the Start button.
- Choose the Settings command.
- Choose Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Windows 2000 should have installed the drivers for your ethernet card automatically.
The ethernet card should be listed on the left part of the "Network and Dial-up
Connections" window.
- Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties
from the shortcut menu that appears.
- The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box will now appear.
- Your Ethernet card should again appear underneath "Connect using:" at the
top of this window.
- Select Properties button.
- Ensure that Obtain an IP address automatically is selected in the
top half of the window.
- Ensure that Obtain DNS server address automatically is selected in
the bottom half of the window.
- Click OK.
- Restart your computer.
Windows 95/98/ME
- Click on the Start button.
- Choose the Settings command.
- Select the Network control panel.
- From the Network control panel, click once on the TCP/IP protocol
icon and then click on the Properties button. Then select the IP
Address tab.
- Check the box next to Obtain an IP address automatically.
- Click on the DNS Configuration tab at the top of the window.
- Check the Enable DNS box
- Click on the OK button at the bottom of the window. You will then see another
window. Click OK at the bottom of this window as well. Your computer may ask
for your original Windows CD and will then instruct you to restart.
Mac OS X
- From the Apple menu select System Preferences...
- Click on the Network icon.
- Set Configure to Built-in Ethernet.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab.
- Set Configure to Using DHCP.
- Click the Save button.
